Oct. 3, 08 Blog Hey friends, it’s hard to believe but I think that my book is finally out of my hands. The manuscript has been copy-edited and it’s now been passed to the designers. Arrangements have been made for a few readings (I’m hoping to line up some more) and before I know it, a hard copy is going to be on the shelves.
I’ve been working on this book for eight – almost nine – years now and it’s been the hardest job that I’ve ever had. I think that the big thing is that you don’t create art in a vacuum. I owe many words of thanks to many people, and they will get their due. Writing this book has also been the loneliest job I’ve ever had.
The truth is that I started writing this book because I was bored but then it started being fun. About three years ago I got a publishing deal with Arbeiter Ring Publishing and began working with Roewan Crowe and that’s when it starting getting hard and shitty. Making decisions and fine tuning is what I found the most difficult part of the process. It’s also been an incredibly emotional experience, I can’t even count the number of times I’ve had to stop writing to wipe my tears and blow my nose. I’ve grown a lot in the writing of this book and I’m thankful for the lessons it’s shown me. I hope you like it.
